Smart Sindara and the Period Adventure
Smart Sindara was brushing her hair one morning when she noticed something new—tiny bumps on her forehead and a little soreness in her chest. She blinked at herself in the mirror. “Hmm… Is my body… changing?”
One sunny Saturday, Smart Sindara was dancing to her Afrobeats playlist when she suddenly shouted, “Ouch!”

She paused the music and checked her chest. “Why does my body feel like it is plotting something?”
Later the next day, she spotted a pimple on her nose and gasped. “What is happening?! Am I turning into a prickly dragon?!”
At school, her science teacher mentioned the word puberty, and that night, Smart Sindara couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Later, while helping Mama Aduke fold laundry, Sindara gathered the courage to ask, “Mama, what exactly is puberty?”
Mama smiled and sat down beside her. “Ah, my sweet Sindara. Puberty is when your body starts growing into a woman’s body. Your voice might change, you’ll grow taller, and yes—you might even get your period.”
Sindara’s eyes widened. “My period? Is it scary?”
Sindara sat up straighter. “Is it contagious?”
Mama Aduke chuckled softly. “Not at all. It means your body is working just the way it should. It may feel strange at first—cramps, mood swings, some bleeding—but it’s nothing you can’t handle. And remember, it doesn’t make you dirty or weak. It makes you powerful. Your body is preparing to create life someday.”

Mama explained, “It’s magical. Your body is preparing for the next chapter. You’ll grow taller, get stronger—and yes, you’ll start your period soon.”
“Wait, the monthly blood thing?” Sindara asked, eyes wide. “Do I need to warn my school?”
Mama smiled, “No alarms needed. It’s normal. It just means your body is working like a queen’s.”
Sindara raised an eyebrow. “So, it’s like a monthly royal visit?”
“Exactly,” Mama grinned. “And we prepare with pads, chocolate, and a whole lot of confidence.”
That night, Sindara made her own Royal Period Kit—complete with pads, lip gloss, wipes, and a tiny journal titled Period Power Chronicles.
The next day, she packed an extra small pouch with a pad, wipes, and a change of underwear—her “Confidence Kit.” When one of her classmates whispered that her period had started and she was scared, Sindara gently handed her the pouch and said, “You’ve got this. We’re all in this together.”
The next week. her best friend Ada whispered at school the next week, “I think I just got mine,” Sindara handed her a pad with a wink. “Welcome to the Queen Club.”

That evening, Sindara wrote in her journal:
“Note to self: Puberty isn’t a prank—it’s a power upgrade!”
Sindara stood taller. Not because of heels or makeup, but because she understood something powerful: growing up didn’t mean losing your sparkle—it meant shining even brighter.
Moral: Puberty isn’t weird—it’s a glow-up. With laughter, love, and a little preparation, every girl can step into her power—one fabulous cramp at a time.
