Smart Sindara Makes Money Dancing at Aunty Sinem’s Event
Smart Sindara loved dancing.

She danced in the kitchen, the living room, and even on the sidewalk when Mama wasn’t looking.
But not everyone thought she was good at it.
“You’re not really an Afrobeats dancer,” her classmate teased one day.
“You dance off the beat sometimes.”
That made Sindara pause. Just a little.
But then she giggled, spun around, and replied,
“Maybe the beat needs to catch up with me!”
Mama just shook her head and smiled. “I don’t even know where she got this energy from!”
Still, Sindara knew she wanted to improve. So during school breaks, she asked her friend Ada—who was a great dancer—to teach her new steps.
They would practice outside by the swings, twirling and clapping and laughing.

Then one day, Mama Aduke came home with exciting news.
“Sindara, we’ve been invited to Aunty Sinem’s brother’s wedding! It’s in Awka Ibom.”
Sindara’s eyes grew wide.
She had never been to Awka Ibom before!
That night, she grabbed her tablet and did a deep dive.
She watched videos of cultural dances, learned about Ekombi and Etighi, listened to their music, and even looked up her favorite part—the food!

“Mama, they eat Afang soup and Ekpang Nkukwo!” she said, practically bouncing.
“And their dancing is sooo fast and graceful—I have to practice!”
The day of the wedding came, and Awka Ibom was everything she imagined and more.
Colorful dresses swirled through the air. The music pounded like happy drums in the sky.
Everyone was dancing—kids, aunties, uncles, even the grandmas!
And when the DJ shouted, “Children to the dance floor!”
Smart Sindara stepped forward.
She wasn’t the best dancer there. Not by a long shot.
But oh, she danced with all her heart!
She moved like she’d studied those videos for weeks. She twirled with joy, bounced with rhythm, and threw in a little of that off-beat magic that only she could bring.
Suddenly, she noticed something amazing—
Adults were smiling... and spraying money!

Naira notes floated down like confetti.
“She’s so full of joy!” one aunty laughed.
“She’s feeling the culture!” another uncle said.

By the end of her dance, Sindara had a little pile of crisp cash and the biggest grin on her face.
“Mama,” she whispered as they rode home, “I made money dancing!”
Mama laughed. “Your joy is contagious, my dear. That’s your real talent.”
That night, Smart Sindara tucked the money into her little savings box and danced one last slow twirl before bed.
“I may not dance like everyone else,” she said softly,
“but I dance like me. And that’s worth celebrating.”
With happy feet and a heart full of music, she drifted off to sleep—dreaming of more stages, more stories, and maybe even more Afang soup.
